Clinical trial reporting

Consort

Consolidated Standards of Reporting Trials (CONSORT), encompasses various initiatives developed by the CONSORT Group to alleviate the problems arising from inadequate reporting of randomized controlled trials.

CONSORT has an evidence-based, minimum set of recommendations for reporting trials, offering a standard way for authors to prepare reports of trial findings. CONSORT also has a library of examples of good reporting.

The article Cars, CONSORT 2010 and clinical practice highlights the importance and use of CONSORT in clinical trial reporting.

Equator

The EQUATOR Network is an international initiative that seeks to improve reliability and value of medical research literature by promoting transparent and accurate reporting of clinical research. The website contains many useful links and information leaflets to support this.

Paper writing guidelines

Authors and presenters are responsible for how medical research is interpreted and communicated. The below links should help in producing clear and effective documentation, though this can only be achieved through complete transparency from authors.
